&lt;strong&gt;New Options for the Teacher Training  Program&lt;/strong&gt;

We are now  accepting applications for the Balance Arts Center Teacher Training Course.&nbsp; Along with the regular program that follows the academic  schedule, the Balance Arts Center is expanding training opportunities to allow members  of the academic community to study in an American Society of the Alexander  Technique (AmSAT) approved training course.&nbsp; AmSAT now allows students to train within a 5-year period.

&lt;strong&gt;The Balance Arts Center will be offering summer sessions beginning in 2010.&nbsp;  Summer sessions along with additional study period during the year will allow trainees to meet AmSAT&rsquo;s high  standard of Alexander Technique teaching while continuing to work in their  academic setting. &lt;/strong&gt;

Through this process you will learn to recognize how thought patterns manifest in your body and how to release habitual patterns of thought and behavior.   As you follow the voice and flow of your own inner wisdom you will experience an embodied awareness of your unified heart, body and mind. This workshop is a wonderful introduction to meditation for beginners and an opportunity for experienced meditators to go deeper.

Dancers strive for movement freedom, coordination, and ease. The Alexander Technique provides concepts and tools to achieve these goals. The focus of the Freedom to Move Conference is to bring dance and the Alexander Technique together, to exploring how the principles of the Alexander Technique are being applied to the many aspects of dance.

The weekend will be full of workshops, a panel discussion, and a performance, for AT teachers who work with dancers, AT teachers who would like to work with dancers, dancers who have had experience with the AT, and dancers with no experience of the AT!

All the conference presenters have had extensive experience both in the teaching the Alexander Technique and in dance. The Alexander Technique has greatly influenced their thinking and approach movement, how they teach, and how they create work. The variety of workshops speaks to the fundamental all- encompassing nature of the Alexander Technique and how the concepts are permeating many corners of the dance world.
