FREEDOM TO ACT: CONFERENCE ON

ACTING & THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

January 4-6th, 2019

New York City

Developed by Belinda Mello, Ann Rodiger

Join us for the 8th year of Freedom to Act.  We are pleased to offer workshops, presentations, and lively discussions with familiar and new presenters. The conference includes a cabaret on Saturday and brunch on Sunday.

Audition Preparation and Success

Actors who use the Alexander Technique develop confidence for entering the audition room open and ready. When preparing for a live audition or a taped submission, the AT helps actors maintain a lively yet calm presence throughout the process.

AT is a foundational approach in being authentic and free from restrictive patterns. Professional actors and actors in training use AT to become more fully alive in their bodies and voices. As actors utilize the AT in daily living it enhances all aspects of their work.

The ease and confidence the AT fosters helps the actor draw attention of casting directors to what they have to offer during auditions. This allows the actor to be themself without excess tension throughout the audition process.  Taking direction with ease allows the actor to make adjustments in the moment.

Freedom to ACT Conference

Actors, acting teachers or coaches, movement and voice specialists, AT teachers and trainees are all welcome to attend this conference. Together we are a powerful and creative community that supports professional performing artists. We welcome people of all Alexander Technique skill levels and understandings to take workshops together. The weekend will include informal performances and social gatherings as well  -- Join us!
