Virtual Alexander Technique Group Class Series 2: You & Gravity

  • Balance Arts Center 151 West 30th Street New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

A Series on the Alexander Technique. Four weeks at a time. One class at a time.

The Alexander Technique is a practice of awareness and choice. It helps you notice your habits and gives you real tools to change them — not through force, but through understanding.

This ongoing series explores a different aspect of the Technique each month through themes that are practical, embodied, and immediately useful. Whether you're a performer, someone dealing with pain, someone completely new to AT, or a longtime student, each series offers fresh perspectives and something to take home. Drop in for one class. Stay for the whole series. Start anywhere.

Classes will be offered twice weekly, on Monday mornings and Wednesday evenings, to offer more options for those interested in joining!

Series 2: You & Gravity

  • Week 1: Gravity & the Ground — What does it actually mean to be supported?

  • Week 2: Ground Reaction Force — The ground bounces back. Learning to sense a force that changes everything about how you stand, walk, and move.

  • Week 3: Dynamic Balance — Balance isn't a fixed point — it's a constant, evolving, and fluctuating flow.

  • Week 4: Dynamic Balance in Activity — We take everything from the series and bring it into real life: walking, reaching, sitting, doing.

Class Fee: $20
