Acting Through the Alexander Technique - 4 Class Series
Come work on your monologues through the Alexander Technique lens! Each class will focus on one or two principles of the Alexander Technique as it relates to acting. This will include the exploration of expanded awareness, physical integration, balance, presence, and choice. You will receive individual feedback and guidance on how to integrate your full self into your work and have the opportunity to perform your monologue in front of others.
Students may drop in to individual classes or join for the full series.

BAC Teacher Training Class
The BAC Alexander Technique Teacher Training Program is currently taking place in person and online. The Balance Arts Teacher Training Program offers the highest standard of teacher training in the Alexander Technique.We offer seven three-hour classes per week which allow students to pursue their careers and work during their training.
One Pound Weight Class - Online & In Person
In this class you will explore how working with lighter weights can be a valuable way to strengthen and build tone. What you learn and practice in this class can be applied to activities in your everyday life such as exercising, lifting and carrying things, and more!
BAC Trainee Practicum
The BAC Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive 1600 hours of study that can be completed in a 3-5 year period. Directed by Ann Rodiger, this course provides individual attention, with the average student-teacher ratio of 5 students to 1 teacher. Graduating students from the Balance Arts Course are eligible for certification through The American Society of the Alexander Technique (AmSAT).
BAC Trainee Practicum provides time for trainees to practice what they are learning in class with the guidance of a Training Course Teaching Assistant. Content will focus on the questions trainees bring to the session.

This weekly Introduction to the Alexander Technique will explore basic principles of the Alexander Technique that guide you toward finding a better balance and dynamic body posture that you will learn to apply to all of your activities!

Fall Prevention & Recovery - In Person
This class will help you learn and embody strategies for maintaining your balance and preventing falls. You will be guided through movements that increase coordination and help you refine your balance. Participants will practice supportive strategies to increase your confidence and adaptability in your standing and walking.
BAC PATT Pedagogy Seminar
The Balance Arts Center’s Performing Artist Teacher Training provides a one-of-a-kind training experience where you can develop your artistry while becoming a fully certified Alexander Technique Teacher.
This weekly seminar specifically addresses how we learn and how we can best present and communicate the AT Principles. Learning theory, language, class structure, and observation are all addressed during the sessions.

This ongoing series explores a different aspect of the Technique each month, through themes that are practical, embodied, and immediately useful. Whether you're a performer, someone dealing with pain, completely new to AT, or a longtime student, each series offers fresh perspectives and something genuinely to take home.
Resonance & Relaxation: Online 4 Class Series 1: Exploring the AT Principles in Singing
In this class series you will explore how the voice and body can work together to create a free and easy resonance. You will explore motion and balance in the body and how that helps you to breathe and support your sound. This class will also feature SOVT and other vocal exercises to reduce stress and optimize resonance. You will be guided through a series of movements and recuperative vocal exercises to help you discover more ease, balance and resonance in your speaking or singing voice. This class is great for teachers, public speakers, singers, actors, and anyone interested in refining their vocal health.
AT for ADHD - Online 4 Class Series
This class offers a supportive, peer-centered space to explore how principles of the Alexander Technique can be applied to the lived experience of ADHD. Rather than a treatment or therapy session, it is a shared inquiry—an opportunity to exchange perspectives, experiment, and learn together.
Please note: The Alexander Technique is an educational and exploratory practice and is not a substitute for therapy or medical care. This class is not led by licensed medical or mental health professionals.

The Balance Arts Center’s Performing Artist Teacher Training provides a one-of-a-kind training experience where you can develop your artistry while becoming a fully certified Alexander Technique Teacher.
This is a weekly seminar where students present their art form or presentation for each other. They learn to apply the AT Principles to those activities to guide the presenter to better communicate their intention. This workshop addresses both technical and performance presence aspects of presentation.

Led by Ann Rodiger, this 2-class series, for those with Hypermobility & EDS, will guide students towards improved proprioception, coordination, and help find a better relationship to gravity. This class series will take place both online via Zoom and in person at the BAC.

This 1 hour session gives you the opportunity to meet with Training Course Director Ann Rodiger, and learn about the training programs, their structure and curriculum, and the BAC’s pedagogical point of view. AT & Emotions - Online 4 Class Series
This virtual, 4-class series will contemplate the function of emotions in the Alexander Technique work. We’ll explore bodies of work related to emotions within the world of acting, psychology, and somatic practices. We’ll ask several questions: Can emotional connection enhance the healing possible with the Alexander Technique? Can the Alexander Technique work lead to more emotional health in everyday life? Bring your curiosity and opinions, and let’s explore.
This class series will meet online via Zoom on Monday May 11th & 18th, and June 1st & 8th from 7-8pm ET.

Resonance & Relaxation: Online 4 Class Series 2: Spatial Awareness to Support Making Sound
In this class series you will explore how the voice and body can work together to create a free and easy resonance. You will explore motion and balance in the body and how that helps you to breathe and support your sound. This class will also feature SOVT and other vocal exercises to reduce stress and optimize resonance. You will be guided through a series of movements and recuperative vocal exercises to help you discover more ease, balance and resonance in your speaking or singing voice. This class is great for teachers, public speakers, singers, actors, and anyone interested in refining their vocal health.

Juggling Through the Alexander Technique - In Person Workshop
Do you want to learn to juggle? Experience the many benefits of juggling by learning to consciously apply Alexander Technique principles to the basic 3-ball cascade. Students will experiment in open practice with the instructor to hone focus, improve hand-eye coordination, and enhance spatial awareness. This workshop is suitable for brand-new jugglers and beginners looking to improve their skills. If you have your own juggling balls, bring them! If not, the BAC will supply them for you.

This is a weekly seminar where students present their art form or presentation for each other. This workshop addresses both technical and performance presence aspects of presentation.

In this class series you will explore how the voice and body can work together to create a free and easy resonance. You will explore motion and balance in the body and how that helps you to breathe and support your sound. This class will also feature SOVT and other vocal exercises to reduce stress and optimize resonance. You will be guided through a series of movements and recuperative vocal exercises to help you discover more ease, balance and resonance in your speaking or singing voice. This class is great for teachers, public speakers, singers, actors, and anyone interested in refining their vocal health.

BAC Trainee Practicum
The BAC Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive 1600 hours of study that can be completed in a 3-5 year period. Directed by Ann Rodiger, this course provides individual attention, with the average student-teacher ratio of 5 students to 1 teacher. Graduating students from the Balance Arts Course are eligible for certification through The American Society of the Alexander Technique (AmSAT).
BAC Trainee Practicum provides time for trainees to practice what they are learning in class with the guidance of a Training Course Teaching Assistant. Content will focus on the questions trainees bring to the session.

Acting Through the Alexander Technique - 4 Class Series
Come work on your monologues through the Alexander Technique lens! Each class will focus on one or two principles of the Alexander Technique as it relates to acting. This will include the exploration of expanded awareness, physical integration, balance, presence, and choice. You will receive individual feedback and guidance on how to integrate your full self into your work and have the opportunity to perform your monologue in front of others.
Students may drop in to individual classes or join for the full series.

Find Your Yoga Flow – Online & In-Person Workshop
Find the knowledge in your body to allow the energetic flow from one pose to another.
In this experiential workshop, we’ll explore the subtle flow and directional intelligence within familiar yoga asanas such as Downward Dog and Forward Folds. Rather than “doing” the pose, we’ll investigate how sensing the ground, clarifying direction, and allowing support can transform both the posture and the transition.
This workshop is ideal for yoga practitioners and teachers who are curious about deepening embodiment, enhancing flow, and discovering greater ease within familiar forms.
